Billie Jo Joy

Billie Jo Joy, Ed.M., R.Y.T., is an Iyengar trained, Kripalu certified yoga instructor who has been studying and teaching yoga for 21 years. She incorporates yogic philosophy, experiential anatomy, and poetry into her classes. She offers a safe and friendly place for practice that balances strength, flexibility, reflection, and spiritual upliftment. She teaches public and private classes at CCAE and Art & Soul (a studio she co-founded in 2000), and offers yoga retreats in Mexico, Italy, and Michigan. Billie Jo is also an accomplished dancer, choreographer, actor, writer and director who works irregularly in stage and film. She has been performing and directing in the Boston area since 1989.

She has a master's degree in education from Harvard University where she also studied trance dance and healing practices through ethnographic film making and then worked there in the fields of international education and mindÑbody medicine. This work involved her in research projects with the Dalai Lama in India and Qi masters in China. The research confirmed her initial belief in the potential of the contemplative and expressive arts to improve health, raise consciousness, solve problems, and deepen joy. Website: artsoulyoga.com
