Von Beckford

Von Beckford [M.A. English/B.A. English (minor Creative Writing), Cum Laude/A.A. English, High Honors] a Cambridge native, received his M.A. from UMASS Boston, where he began his teaching career as an English/Literature professor. Some of his favorite teaching texts included works by female authors like Charlotte Perkins-Gilman, Jamaica Kincaid, and Kate Chopin. In addition to teaching the explication of fiction and non-fiction texts, he has also spent over a decade sharing and researching the history of black/female singers of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. Between fiction and music, he is particularly interested in exploring and exposing the voices of those – often women - who have historically been silenced or overlooked. He teaches Expository writing at Bentley University.
