ESL Advanced: Pronunciation & Listening Practice

If you speak quite well in English but would like a more solid understanding of the stumbling blocks in your pronunciation, this is the class for you. This is an opportunity to examine and resolve the chronic pronunciation errors. In this class, you’ll learn how to improve your intonation, connect sounds to produce natural sounding speech, practice primary stress in words, and produce the correct sounds of letters (phonemes). We’ll also cover features of speech that native speakers use to speak at faster rates. In turn, this will help you understand faster native speaker speech. Steve will provide you with practice materials and we’ll use online listening resources to observe and learn from native speaker speech. Instructor: Steven David Bloomberg

Steve is a communication skills developer, providing communication skills training and coaching for business and professional purposes in the Boston area and online. He trains and coaches people to be more successful communicators.

“We must have a way to say just what it is we want to say in just the right way.”
“Place your personal attitude towards what you are saying onto the words themselves.”
"Everything you say has an underlying message that is not part of the words themselves. Are you communicating that message when you speak?"
“We build communication strength by focusing on finer and more subtle communication points, improving message content, communicating confidence, developing nonverbal communication skills, and getting to the point.”

Do you have questions about using English? Steve can answer them - from grammar and vocabulary usage to improving your presentation, speaking at meetings, and improving pronunciation.
