Painting in the City (Studio School) *NEW*

This class will take students out of the studio and onto the streets in Harvard Square and other lively areas of Cambridge. Topics include setting up on busy sidewalks, color mixing to capture the city's depth and light, ​simplifying complex scenes, and adding figures to the cityscape. Prior painting experience is helpful and a portable easel is needed. Instructor: Brett Xavier Gamache

Artist & Art Instructor

Brett Gamache is an oil painter, who works from both direct observation and studio invention. He holds an MFA in Painting from the University of New Hampshire, a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and studied for two years at the Art Students League in New York City. He has 7 years of teaching experience at 3 different college institutions and has taught in Italy on a number of occasions. In 2007, he received a Fulbright Grant to study painting in Italy. His work is exhibited throughout New England and may be viewed online. Website:
