Spy Stories: A Wilderness of Mirrors *NEW*

From the time Moses sent the 12 tribal leaders to scout out the land of Canaan to Queen Elizabeth first creation of the first modern Secret Service and, more recently, the proliferation internationally of intelligence and counter-intelligence, agencies, spy craft has been evolving technologically. We will explore the existential themes of deception and betrayal through close reading and critical discussion of Joseph Conrad's The Secret Agent; Tom Stoppard's Hapgood; and John Le Carre's The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.
