English through Movies: Iconic American Holiday Movies *NEW*

Watching movies is a great way to improve your fluency in English. Movies tell stories and build understanding of language and cultures. Very special to any culture is how holidays are celebrated and in New England, many of the great American holiday traditions took root. In this class, we're going to meet and watch movies that capture the spirit of the holidays in New England and elsewhere in the United States. We will discuss the themes and backgrounds of the movies and use the vocabulary and idioms used in the movie. This class is a wonderful way to improve your English, deepen your understanding of American culture and make new friends! Tuition includes drinks and snacks. Instructor: John O'Donnell

John Coleman O'Donnell

John was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Montreal, PQ. His educational background includes a BA in political science and an MA in political theory from Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN. He has been teaching ESL for 15 years in the Boston area. John is married to a Brazilian woman and has visited Brazil three times. He is learning Portuguese and completely empathizes with second language learners, since Portuguese is not an easy language to learn!
