Found in Translation: Creative Writing Across Borders *NEW*

In this workshop for advanced ESL and World Languages students, we will read poetry and short stories by contemporary writers who move swiftly and unapologetically across languages, translate themselves, navigate cultures, and code-switch. Based on these readings, students will have prompts to experiment with creative writing—poetry, short stories, dialogues, journaling—using English and all other languages available to them. With the original meaning of the prefix "trans" being "across", we will discuss the challenges and joys in movement across identities, places, histories, languages, and cultures.
