German Conversations about Art and Culture: Museumsbesuche in Berlin *NEW*

Die Alte Nationalgalerie zeigt im Herzen der Berliner Museumsinsel eine der bedeutendsten deutschen Sammlungen der Kunst des 19. Jahrhunderts. Dagegen ist der Hamburger Bahnhof ein „Museum für Gegenwart“. In diesem Kurs besuchen wir beide Museen virtuell: Wir erkunden die Museen, besprechen ausgewählte Kunstwerke und lernen Wissenswertes über Künstler wie z.B. Casper David Friedrich und Bunny Rogers. Petra Bittner

Petra is a German native from Berlin who holds a degree in English literature (PhD) and teaching German (MA/Staatsexamen). She lived in Boston from 1998 to 2007, teaching language and cultural studies classes for Boston University, Harvard University and MIT. She spent the last 13 years in Munich where she taught cultural studies and business communication courses for different universities as well as language and literature classes for the adult education center in Munich (MVHS).

Petra loves the cultural diversity in adult education classes as well as the relaxed but dedicated atmosphere in the classroom. Her priority is to cater to the individual needs of learners, so they can attain their goals. In her teaching she focuses on communicative competency and cultural awareness.
