ESL: Intensive Beginner Levels 1 & 2 Integrated Skills - 54 hours

This course is for students with no knowledge of English. We will begin with the alphabet and focus on vocabulary building, spelling, and pronunciation. After that, we will begin to concentrate on basic grammar, including the present, past, and present progressive tenses, nouns and pronouns, articles, and question words. Students at this level will learn to identify common words concerning their immediate concrete surroundings, read very simple sentences, ask and answer simple questions on very familiar topics, and write a short, simple note. John Coleman O'Donnell

John was born in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Montreal, PQ. His educational background includes a BA in political science and an MA in political theory from Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN. He has been teaching ESL for 15 years in the Boston area. John is married to a Brazilian woman and has visited Brazil three times. He is learning Portuguese and completely empathizes with second language learners, since Portuguese is not an easy language to learn!
