Build a Small Box with Hand Tools

Make any of a variety of small boxes: sliding-lid, sawn-lid, hinged-lid, dovetail, mortise and tenon, tote with a handle; painted boxes, unpainted boxes, carved and painted, painted then carved. The options are nearly limitless. You'll get started with a nifty dovetail box, with plenty of options for making it your own. You will then be ready to look ahead to any number of interesting projects. This class is open to beginning and continuing hand tool woodworkers. Students should plan on spending between $10 to $30 on materials depending on the scope of their projects. Instructor: Dan Paret

Instructor

Dan Paret

Dan has been working wood for nearly thirty years, professionally as a home renovation contractor, avocationally as a maker of cabinets and boxes, and finally as a professional woodworker making both custom and speculative cabinets and boxes. Since 2002, he has been doing all of his woodworking with hand tools. In his classes he attempts to create an environment that is both challenging and supportive, with equal measures of seriousness and levity.
