SEPTEMBER 30

UNIQUE NEEDS OF SOLO AGERS: BUILDING HEALTH, COMMUNITY, AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT

Ailene Gerhardt | Board Certified Patient Advocate at Beacon Patient Solutions LLC

Ailene Gerhardt, Board Certified Patient Advocate at Beacon Patient Solutions LLC, will explore the unique considerations and needs of solo agers. This program is sponsored by Cambridge Neighbors, a membership-based nonprofit that provides a variety of practical, educational, and social services and supports for older adults who wish to remain in their homes and communities as they age.

Whether you are a ‘solo’ ager (an adult who, because of choice or circumstance, is without the “traditional” family support structure of adult children or close family members) now or may be in the future or simply know others who are, this program is for you. We will explore the needs and unique considerations of solo agers and will review specific needs related to healthcare and community, strategies and tips for avoiding loneliness and isolation, and tools for creating and identifying support systems. This presentation is particularly relevant as we navigate a world in which we are all feeling isolated and uncertain. Attendees will leave this class with useful resources and questions answered.
