Reem Atassi
Reem is a native Arabic speaker born in Aleppo, Syria. Although she has been in the US for the majority of her life, she has also lived in Lebanon, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, as well as France. Fueled with a passion for education and making learning fun and engaging, Reem began teaching her children Arabic using games and stories. She then co-founded a company called Abjad Hawaz to create a board game and app to make Arabic accessible for early learners. Reem has been an educator in the classroom, an instructor for remedial education for refugees, as well as a private tutor for adults wanting to learn Arabic. She taught immersive Arabic for two summers at Charlestown high school as well as the Center for Arabic Culture. Reem believes in tailoring her lessons to the needs of the students and loves to make learning Arabic an enjoyable experience. She came to CCAE in 2019 as a student and is thrilled to be returning as an instructor.
