Development Associate

The Development Associate will assist the Director of Development in all aspects of the Development Department’s work. Working with the Director of Development, this person will help to cultivate and expand the organization’s donor base of individuals, businesses, and grant-giving institutions, as well as initiate and organize fundraising and other events. This full-time position reports to CCAE’s Director of Development.

Job Functions:

Event Planning:

  • Work closely with Event Committees in providing planning support for annual events and the biennial Of Course! Gala
  • Act as staff liaison for CCAE’s Conversation on the Edge Series, Blacksmith House Poetry Series, and other like events.
  • Assume major responsibility for the execution of fundraising events including invitation creation and mailing, RSVP tracking, staffing planning, and on-site logistics

Annual Fund:

  • Manage all aspects of Donor Perfect database including recording and tracking gifts, generating and analyzing reports, and maintaining accurate fiscal and membership data
  • Organize mailings
  • Acknowledge gifts

Board of Directors Work:

  • Serve as staff liaison to Board of Directors, Board of Visitors, and Board committees
  • Assist in scheduling, setup, and other logistics of meetings

Communications:

  • Work with Marketing Department and Executive Director to create effective fundraising materials and communications
  • Help initiate and maintain successful partnerships with other community organizations

Job Qualifications:

  • One – four years working in development, events management, communications, or related fields
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic; must be out-going and have a development-informed, sales-oriented bent, and a desire to learn new things
  • Working knowledge of Donor Perfect (preferred)
  • Strong project management skills and comfort with deadline-driven workload
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and high level attention to detail
  • Self-starter and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • BA/BS required

Compensation and Benefits:

Now Hiring: Registration Staff

Cambridge Center for Adult Education, located in Harvard Square, seeks part-time Registration Staff who are responsible for registering students, setting up classrooms, assisting teachers and staff, and creating a welcoming environment at the Center. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking for part-time work in a nonprofit educational setting.

The rate of pay is $13/hour. Registration Staff are also eligible to take one free class per term at CCAE.

Candidates for this position should enjoy working with the public, as they are the first contact that our students have with CCAE. Registration Staff's primary tasks will be to register students in person and over the phone, greet visitors, answer questions about classes, give directions within and among our two facilities, and additional administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualification:
Candidates should have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills including a warm welcoming manner, patience and a strong desire to help people. We need people who can provide calm assistance during busy periods and then be self-starters attending to other important work during less busy times. CCAE is looking for candidates who are proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google applications. Candidates must also be punctual, accurate with numbers, attentive to detail and well organized. Fluent spoken and written English is required, and bi-lingual skills in languages such as Spanish or Portuguese are a plus. Weekend availability is a must.
