Stephen Williams

For much of my career so far I worked at Newsday in New York, primarily as a staff travel writer then as music editor. I reviewed live music and recordings, conducted dozens of interviews (including John Williams!), and acted as primary music critic whose work was syndicated in many publications around the country.

I’m a proper Bostonian by birth and returned here (Brookline) from New York a year ago. I studied English at Northeastern University and worked at the Boston Globe; since leaving Newsday I've worked at the NY Daily News, Advertising Age, and freelanced frequently for The New York Times.

My fascination with film music dates back decades, as does my knowledge of the great practitioners of the form through the past years: Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, Randy Newman (and several other Newmans), many others. I expect that sharing my enthusiasm for this universal culture will make a worthwhile experience here.
