Introduction to Ukulele *In-Person*
More popular than ever, the approachable ukulele is the instrument of choice for great-sounding, portable music. You'll learn the basics quickly to start playing songs you will immediately love. Simple chords will have you sounding great after just one class, and you'll soon have a repertoire ranging from “Tin Pan Alley” ukulele classics to current pop hits. You will learn tricks for hunting down ukulele song chord charts online and adapting them for your own strumming and singing pleasure! No prior experience is necessary; bring your uke. Kerrville New Folk winning songwriter Amy Kucharik [/kuh-CHAR-ick/] performs as a one-woman band with ukulele, foot percussion, mouth trumpet and harmonica, or with her Boston-based ensembles Tiger Moan and Friends With Benefits. Amy was a formal showcase artist at SWRFA in 2015, WFMT Folk DJ Rich Warren’s pick for the DJ showcase at NERFA in 2016, and was selected as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist for 2018. Her second full-length album of original music, "Until the Words Are Gone," was released worldwide on June 1, 2018. She has headlined, performed and taught at ukulele festivals including Flower City in Rochester, NY, the Gaithersburg Ukefest in MD, and the Funky Frets Ukefest in PA. She is a Mi-Si Electronics performing artist.
