Pencils
- 2H and 2B pencil
- white chalk pencil
Charcoal
- soft charcoal (willow or vine)
- compressed charcoal
Paper
- 18” x 24” or larger, no smaller, at least 4 sheets
- Any pad of charcoal paper will work (for both pencil and charcoal drawings). Strathmore sells a variety of charcoal paper pads.
- If you want to buy some nicer sheets of paper, you can try Rives BFK or Fabriano Artistico Watercolor paper. These are sold in 22” x 30” sheets.
- Required: One toned/color sheet of paper (Stonehenge makes different colored papers, size 22” x 30”), preferably a gray, cream, light tone. Nothing too dark and no saturated colors. No black paper. (We will use thewhite chalk pencil on this)
Other Materials
- Drawing board (If you have one. There are some in the studio)
- Blue painter's tape
- Viewfinder
- Kneaded eraser
- Pencil sharpener
- Rag/paper towels
