Confections & Causes: Exploring Social Change Through Decorative Desserts *In-Person* *NEW*
This part lecture, part hands-on baking class series is based on Linda's forthcoming book, Confections and Causes, which highlights twelve social causes with accompanying original dessert recipes -- one for each month of the year. Each decorative plated dessert will have an aesthetic and a flavor profile tailored to the cause and the season of the year it represents. November's cause is education in Armenia. The class will feature a virtual guest speaker who is a global director for Armenian Missionary Association of America, one of the world's oldest and largest Armenian aid organizations. Afterwards, we will prepare bittersweet chocolate halvah tartlets featuring pistachio-infused popped meringue, za'atar brittle, and autumnal bubble sugar and isomalt decorations. Students will leave the class not only with the skills to craft an impressive dessert for the holidays, but also with awareness of educational initiatives in Armenia and the inspiration to make a positive change in the world!
