What's So Funny? Reading David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest, Part 2 *Online* *NEW*

As promised last spring, the conclusion to DFW's 1,079-page magnum opus, Infinite Jest, aka "The Ulysses of Boston", inspired by Shakespeare and Pynchon, Hill Street Blues and The Brady Bunch. We'll resume following the denizens at the Enfield Tennis Academy and Ennet House recovery center, and their intersections with Quebec separatists, a germophobe President, an avant (and après) garde filmmaker, an oracular radio host, a lotus-positioned fitness guru, and a militant grammarian. (IYKYK.) Previous students welcomed back, new students should have read the book, or at the very least up to p. 689. We'll review in the first class, then we'll be off like a Red Line train. Only fast and on time.
