Introduction to Jewelry Casting *In-Person* *NEW*

This class will cover the 2 most common types of jewelry casting: sand-casting and lost wax casting. Sand casting entails pressing a solid object into a bonded sand or clay and removing it, creating a hollow where the molten metal is poured. Lost wax-casting is often used when more detail or duplicates are needed. It involves a wax model attached to a larger wax tree, which is then burned out and filled with metal. We will sand cast on site, and lost wax casting will happen off site, with finishing and polishing happening afterwards back on site. Instructor: Kylie Weinzierl
