Aperitivo Letterario: Italian Book Club *In-Person*
Do you love Italy and all Italian things? Do you like the idea of knowing more about the country's literature, history, and culture? Then this Italian book club is perfect for you. Come to share some classic literature, novels, and contemporary fiction with a glass of wine!
Fall 2025 Term: During the fall term we will discuss the novel Oliva Denaro by Viola Aedone. Published in 2023, this novel is based on a true story of a young woman who defied the tradition of reparatory marriage in Sicily.
Required reading before the class: Oliva Denaro by Viola Ardone. Intermediate level (CEFR B1 and above) required.
Winter 2026 Term: We will discuss the novel L'anniversario by Andrea Bajani. This poignant novel received the prestigious Premio Strega award in 2025. Required reading before the class: L'anniversario by Andrea Bajani. Intermediate level (CEFR B1 and above) required.

Elena Lori
Elena Lori, born and raised in Northeastern of Italy, received her bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Trento. She worked as lawyer for 15 years and then moved to Cambridge. In Italy she worked several years with refugees and Roma people. She has taught Italian as a volunteer, to foreigners and to Roma teenagers.
