It's Only Money! Financial Fiascos: 1634 to the Present *Online* *NEW*

Modern capitalism fueled economic growth, but it also created the financial scandal. Who doesn’t like money? So what if one has to cheat a bit to get it? Or if one ruins a nation’s prosperity? We’ll look at some of the classic examples such as the tulipmania and the Mississippi Bubble, and then look at more recent examples, such as the S&L meltdown of the 1980s and the subprime mortgage/derivative instruments crash of 2008. Chronologies and bibliography provided. Instructor: Brian Bixby
