Quem canta seus males espanta! - Brazilian Portuguese through Songs *In-Person* *NEW*

This course “You’ve got to sing your troubles away!” presents a variety of Brazilian musical genres. Using them, we will practice and develop some of the linguistic skills of the Portuguese language. Relate Brazilian music with aspects of the country's culture, reflect on themes and/or issues present in the lyrics and, in the end, why not sing? Let's forget our worries and learn more about this fascinating country, its artists and its rhythms. For high beginners and above (CEFR A2 and above). Instructor: Maria Fernanda Salles

Maria Fernanda Salles

Maria Fernanda Salles was born in Rio de Janeiro and graduated from UNISUAM (Rio de Janeiro).

Maria has been teaching Portuguese and Spanish for 15 years. In Brazil, she worked for a Public School and The British School teaching Spanish. In 2014 she moved to the Dominican Republic and taught at the UASD (Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo) known as the first university in America. She also taught Portuguese for almost 3 years at the Centro Cultural Brasil República Dominicana. This cultural center is part of the Embassy of Brazil in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. During the pandemic she also started to teach Portuguese online for Casa do Brasil in Mexico.

Maria loves books, cultural activities, traveling, dogs and everything about languages and culture.
