In-Person Class Guidelines

We look forward to welcoming students back into our classrooms this fall with a limited number of in-person classes starting October 5. In preparation, we are taking precautions to ensure the safety of students, instructors, and staff who enter our buildings through both social distancing and hygienic measures. We have outlined the steps we have taken as well as guidelines for students attending in-person classes here. Please read through these guidelines before registering for and attending in-person classes.

Please contact us at 617-547-6789 or info@ccae.org if you have any questions.

CCAE will be adhering to all Massachusetts State Guidelines.

Physical Distancing Measures:

  • Classes will be limited to a maximum of 10 persons per class, dependent upon the size of the classroom space. Maximum of 5 classes per building.
  • Class start times will be staggered to minimize crowding in high traffic areas, at least 15-30 minutes difference for start times to avoid congregating in hallways.
  • Visual markers will be placed on where to sit and stand in each classroom.
  • Buildings are closed to all except registered students.
  • Students must arrive no more than 10 minutes before class start time.
  • Students must depart immediately after class ends.
  • Students may only enter a classroom if they are attending a class held in that space.

Hygiene Measures:

  • Mandatory masks are required at all times, including by students, instructors, staff, and models.
  • Students, instructors, staff, and models cannot enter buildings if exhibiting any signs of illness.
  • No eating in classrooms including cooking classes, food made in classes will be taken home to eat. To-go containers will be provided in cooking classes.
  • Personal water bottles are allowed and may be filled up at our water bubblers. Paper cups will not be available.
  • Doors and windows will be kept open for air flow when weather and classroom conditions allow.
  • Classrooms will be disinfected between each class (with minimum 30 minutes between classes).
  • Students and instructors are encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands upon entering a classroom.
  • We have increased cleaning throughout the building, especially of high-touch areas and bathrooms.
  • No changing is permitted in Roberts Room or 2nd floor bathroom at 42 Brattle Street.

Travel Guidelines:

Staffing & Operations:

  • All persons who are at high-risk are encouraged to talk with their healthcare providers to consider whether or not classes are a safe option at this time.
  • All staff, instructors, and students will self-screen for COVID symptoms at home prior to coming to CCAE. If you have exhibited any symptoms within the past 48 hours you should stay home.
  • Any faculty or staff who test positive for COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone who has received a positive test result for COVID-19 are required to notify CCAE for purposes of cleaning/disinfecting and contact tracing. Students are also asked to notify CCAE in the event the student tests positive for COVID-19.
