Basic Culinary Skills & Techniques For All Abilities *In-Person* *NEW*

Join us for a welcoming, hands-on cooking class designed specifically for adults seeking specialized instruction or who identify as needing additional support. In this class, students will build confidence in the kitchen while learning essential culinary skills: from hygiene and kitchen safety to measuring, meal prep, and table setting. With a focus on independence, clear instruction, and a supportive environment, students will discover how to navigate recipes, use kitchen tools, and prepare and serve simple meals. Whether new to cooking or looking to boost their skills, this class empowers students to enjoy the kitchen and cook with confidence. Janice Philpot

Janice’s career is an amalgamation of learning, teaching, and leading people and organizations in the fields of public and higher education, leadership, adult education and workforce development. She joins CCAE with the desire to bring culinary skills to individuals with disabilities as a continuation of her belief in the divinity of work. Janice has developed culinary programs for youth and adults with disabilities as a through out the greater Boston area. Janice believes in the power of food and fellowship. She celebrates the breaking of bread and seeks to share this joy.

Janice holds a BA in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University, a Masters in Special Education from Lesley College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Leadership from Harvard University.
