Modern Hebrew: Beginner Level 2 *Online*

The official language of the state of Israel, Hebrew is a Semitic language which belongs to the Afro-Asian language family. Hebrew is the only Canaanite language still spoken, and the only truly successful example of a revived dead language. Modern Hebrew is spoken by approximately 10 million people around the world.
This level is for students who have at least 10 hours of classroom time in Hebrew within the last year, can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need in Hebrew, and can use simple phrases and sentences to describe where they live and the people they know. Following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference, students at this level will continue to learn to identify common words concerning their immediate concrete surroundings, read very simple sentences, ask and answer simple questions on very familiar topics, and write a short, simple note. Dalia Mendel

Dalia Mendel is an experienced Hebrew teacher with years of teaching Hebrew and Israeli culture. She holds a graduate degree, B.Sc degree in Chemical Engineering and a M.Bs from the Ben-Gurion University in Beer Shave, Israel. Mrs. Mendel relocated to the US in 2014 with her family and since then has been teaching Hebrew to different age groups and in different Jewish organizations such as The Rashi School, Temple Emanuel in Newton and other places. Mrs. Mendel is focusing in her classes on the four Hebrew language skills - speaking, reading, writing and listening using authentic Israeli songs, games, teacher prepared materials, videos and more in order to keep her students engaged and meet different learning styles and levels. Dalia Mendel is also involved in the Boston-Haifa Connection partnership. Dalia brings her love and passion to Israel and Hebrew in her classes.
