Spanish: Beginner Level 1

Spoken in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia, Spanish has the second largest number of native speakers in the world. It is also the second most studied language in the world, and the third most used language on the Internet. Make Spanish your second language with our first-rate instructors. This level is for students who have not studied the language before. Following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference, students at this level will learn to identify common words concerning themselves and their families, read basic vocabulary, ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need, and use simple phrases and sentences to describe familiar people and places. Michelle N. Abadia

Michelle Nicole Abadía was born and raised in Puerto Rico. The youngest of 3 sisters, she had completely lost her sight by age 5, and can speak and write English, Spanish, and French with fluency. Michelle Abadía has a bachelor's degree in French literature and music, and a minor in International studies with focus on Latin America, from Boston College. She subsequently obtained a Masters degree in French literature from Tufts university, and a Masters in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. Ms. Abadía worked as a court language interpreter for the Massachusetts judicial System for over 4 years. Then she began her career as a college professor and instructor of adult education at Framingham State University, Roxbury Community College, Babson, College, MassBay Community college, Lasell College, Emerson College, Brookline adult education, and Newton Adult education. For the last year and a half, Ms. AbadÍa has embarked on a career as a full time musician, having released 3 CDs in various styles of music.

Luz Elena Zuluaga

Luz has taught Spanish for over 15 years. Luz has instructed both beginners and advanced Spanish to students and business executives alike. Luz is a graduate of La University Pontificia Bolivariana en Medellín, Colombia.

Martha de la Vega

Martha is a Spanish instructor. She was born and raised in Mexico City. She has a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Literature and Linguistics and a master's degree in Modern and Medieval Languages. She has been teaching Spanish for several years in both groups and one-on-one formats.
