Lara Kazo
Lara Kazo is a biologist and educator with a strong background in ornithology, climate change, and science communication. She has conducted research on bird ecology, including effects of forest fragmentation on birds in Belize, and is developing work on avian influenza in migratory shorebirds. With a Master’s degree from George Mason University, she brings expertise in fieldwork, data analysis, and teaching, currently designing and leading college-level courses on genetics, climate change, and human health. Beyond academia, Lara also applies her skills in community engagement, serving as Communications Coordinator for the Brookline Birding Club, and has hands-on experience in agriculture from growing up on her family’s sheep farm. She is passionate about bridging ecological research with public understanding, and is preparing to pursue a PhD focused on wildlife disease ecology and conservation.
