Peter Littlefield

Stage Director, Writer, and Dramaturg

Peter Littlefield is a stage director and writer. He has spent the last fifteen years deconstructing and re-imagining opera for companies in the United States and Europe, including San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Theater Basil, and The Prague National Opera. Handel's "Partenope," co-directed with Christopher Alden at the English National Opera, won the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Opera Production. He participated in the New York downtown world for many years, writing and directing original theater pieces at many theaters and clubs, including the Kitchen and the Pyramid. He studied writing with the playwright and director Maria Irene Fornes.
