Shebati Sengupta
Shebati Sengupta (they/she) is a writer, educator, and PhD Candidate. Currently, they are completing their degree in American Studies at the University of New Mexico, where they teach courses in Asian American Studies, Cultural Studies, and Gender Studies. She is a VONA alum and the recipient of fellowships from Brooklyn Poets; Roots, Wounds, Words; the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing; and the Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies. They were also the 2024 Garlic Poet Laureate at the Toronto Garlic Festival. Shebati has work published or forthcoming in Lantern Review, the Asian American Writer’s Workshop, the Rights Collective, and the edited collection Intimacies of Anti-Asian Violence.
