Islamic Art: A History in Six Objects *Online* *NEW*
This course will offer an introduction to the diverse array of art produced in the Islamic world, from the beginning of Islam in the early Middle Ages to the present day. Each week will focus on an individual object or work of art, representing different geographies, time periods, materials, aesthetic preferences, and modes of production. Through studying visual and material culture, students will gain insight into the social, political, economic, and religious histories of the Islamic world.
