Writing Ghost Stories: Crafting Spooky Yet Deeply Human Tales *In-Person* *NEW*
In this bone-chilling and thought-provoking course, we'll explore ghosts and hauntings in classic and contemporary literature, unlocking tales of longing, suffering, injustice, jealousy, and loss. We'll read uncanny tales by Charles Dickens, Henry James, Shirley Jackson, Stephen King, Mariana Enríquez, Tananarive Due, and Carmen Maria Machado, among others, and examine how they connect the dead and the living to express grief, guilt, fear, rage, trauma, and desires. Through close reading, discussions, and writing exercises, we'll learn to craft spooky stories that are both entertaining and meaningful.
