Tai Chi for Beginners *In-Person*

Originally an ancient Chinese martial art, tai chi is practiced today primarily as an exercise that cultivates physical and mental harmony through movement. It's slow, fluid, form-based on the Chinese principle of yin and yang, and its emphasis on relaxed, effortless movement makes it ideal for people of all ages. You will learn the first section of the traditional Yang style of long-form Tai Chi. Wear loose, comfortable clothes and soft, flat shoes.

Our goal is to introduce the multifaceted discipline of Tai Chi to the greater Boston community, including its many benefits and history. All instructors for the “Tai Chi for Beginners” class are students of Master Tai-Chun Pan of “The Harmony Tai Chi Center”, http://www.taichiforhealthweb..... Master Tai-Chun Pan and his brother Tai-Sheng Pan created the first CCAE “Tai Chi for Beginners” class in the 1970s. We are continuing this tradition.

Tin Yau Ying

Tin Ying has lived in Massachusetts, working as an electrical engineer for more than 35 years. She was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Ghana, West Africa. She speaks fluent English and 3 different Chinese dialects (Cantonese, Shanghainese, and Mandarin).

She studies Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, passed down from Grand Master Hsiung Yang Ho, under Master Tai-Chun Pan. She wants to share her experience and the benefit of Tai Chi by teaching the Tai Chi for Beginners course. She is following the footsteps of Master Pan and his other students who have taught this class since its inception in CCAE in the 1970s.
