Volunteer in Cambridge: Find Your Mission *Online*

This workshop is designed for individuals or groups who want to participate in our vast and varied local nonprofit landscape through volunteerism. We will discuss the search and application process and how you can make a good match, then highlight opportunities at the program or board level in response to your priorities, and explain how you can find more options independently. Agency staff may drop in. Attendees are encouraged to share relevant first-hand experiences, but we will move along at a pace.

Laurie Rothstein

Laurie brings three decades of work in local nonprofits to her role leading Cambridge Volunteers since 2015. These agencies hosted worldwide research expeditions, repaired the environment in Armenia, taught rape prevention through theater, empowered Boston youth, and opened access to college for under-served students while training urban teachers. All of these organizations relied on volunteers. Laurie believes in the unique power of volunteerism to create change and to change all participants -- including the volunteers -- in the process.

Alexis Rabkin

Alexis was born and raised in Cambridge and brings her love of this city and the people that make it great to her work at Cambridge Volunteers. She is a graduate of Barnard College with a degree in Computer Science and Environmental Studies and has a background in project management in the small startup world. In her spare time, Alexis likes to go on bagel adventures, organize fun events that build community, and make screenprints.
