Chongchon and Chosin: Disaster in Korea, 1950 *In-Person* *NEW*

By November, 1950, the United States and United Nations forces had conquered nearly all of North Korea and had apparently won a clear-cut military victory in the Korean War. Just when the war appeared to be over, the Chinese Red Army attacked by surprise, and inflicted a historic defeat on the United States Army. This course examines the background of the Chinese offensive and the failure of US strategy and intelligence, the course of the battle, and the effects of the American defeat on the rest of the Korean War and subsequent US policy in the region.
