American Sign Language: Deaf Culture & History: ASL Practice *In-Person* *NEW*

This class will explore the rich historical and cultural background of the Deaf community throughout time. It will investigate how American Sign Language developed and how the culture emerged within it. Part of the class will be dedicated to practicing signing. A basic understanding of ASL and having completed at least American Sign Language Beginner Level 3 or equivalent are required for this class.

Jude Grauso

Jude Grauso is a Deaf teacher who has a passion for ASL and Deaf culture. Jude graduated with a degree in Education and is currently finishing a second degree in Human Services. They are teaching ASL 1&2 at CCAE and outside of that works with Deaf mentorship, private ASL instruction, and is also a School teacher during the day.

In their free time they enjoy spending time with their family and pets as well as hiking, gardening, and outdoor activities.
