ESL Intermediate: Let’s Talk about Longfellow *In-Person* *NEW*

In this course, we will explore Cambridge’s own beloved American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow! Did you know that Longfellow began his career as a foreign language teacher? We will talk about his poems, translations, travels, triumphs and tragedies. Along with his poetry, we will meet other writers and politicians he knew from Charles Dickens, Charles Sumner, Harriet Beecher Stowe and more. Longfellow was responsible for shaping the image of America through his poems. We will read and listen to some of his poetry including “The Village Blacksmith” (we have a big surprise here at CCAE) and “Evangeline”. This class will feature reading, writing, listening and speaking activities. We will also take short walking trips in the neighborhood to see nearby landmarks. This course is offered for intermediate and advanced ESL students (CEFR B1 and above). Instructor: Britta Pejic
