PRIM - Monotype Printmaking Three Ways: Inspiration and Basic Techniques
Supply List for Monotype Three Ways -- Laurie Sheffield and Susan Rice
Session 1 Monotype Basics
All paint supplies for this class are water-based and water cleanup!
Essential supplies:
- A small newsprint pad or other inexpensive drawing paper (9x12 or 11x14 size)

- Speedball water based block printing ink, small tubes:
- 1 black small tube minimum
- Several colors depending on your preference (primaries are good for mixing).
- Speedball printmaking mediums (for rolling out ink):
- 1 small tube Extender (makes ink transparent)
- 1 small tube Retarder (makes ink dry more slowly)
- Available in the studio for purchase:
- Rives BFK printmaking paper – $5 for a large sheet
- Plexiglass plates of various sizes can be purchased and prepared in class with our tools – strongly suggest buying at least one.
