Brazilian Portuguese: Beginner Level 1 *In-Person*
Portuguese, the native language of Brazil, is spoken by approximately 180 million people around the world, including one million in Massachusetts! This series of engaging classes emphasizes spoken production and interaction. This level is for students who have not studied Brazilian Portuguese before, or have less than 10 hours of classroom time within the last year. Following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference, students at this level will learn to identify common words concerning themselves and their families, read basic vocabulary, ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need, and use simple phrases and sentences to describe familiar people and places. Maria Fernanda Salles
Maria Fernanda Salles was born in Rio de Janeiro and graduated from UNISUAM (Rio de Janeiro).
Maria has been teaching Portuguese and Spanish for 15 years. In Brazil, she worked for a Public School and The British School teaching Spanish. In 2014 she moved to the Dominican Republic and taught at the UASD (Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo) known as the first university in America. She also taught Portuguese for almost 3 years at the Centro Cultural Brasil República Dominicana. This cultural center is part of the Embassy of Brazil in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. During the pandemic she also started to teach Portuguese online for Casa do Brasil in Mexico.
Maria loves books, cultural activities, traveling, dogs and everything about languages and culture.
