Wine Tasting: A Beginner’s Sampler *In-Person*

Uncertain as to the difference between Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, Chianti and Cabernet, Burgundy and Barossa? Join us to learn how to distinguish between wine styles, grape varieties, and regions. We’ll discuss how to buy wine at all price points, how to taste wine to get the most out of every glass, what makes a New World wine different from the same type of wine produced in France or Italy, and the best food pairings for different wine styles. John Fiola

John’s passion for wine began when his competitive running career was winding down. His introduction to wines started by volunteering to get the wines for a holiday dinner one year where he met a fabulous retailer who got him hooked. A chemist by training, and after taking numerous wine courses geared for the consumer, he entered the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) certification program. John holds the WSET Diploma (with Merit) and is a Certified WSET Educator. He is also a Certified Wine Educator (CWE) with the Society of Wine Educators. John has been teaching wine courses in the Boston area since 2006 and thoroughly enjoys the education aspect of wine.
