Korean: Beginner Level 4 *In-Person* *NEW*
Korean belongs to the Ural-Altaic family of languages and is spoken by approximately 100 million people in South Korea, North Korea, China, Japan, and the US. Due to Korea’s increasing economic and political importance in North-East Asia, Korean is growing increasingly popular around the world as a foreign language. The “Korean Wave” has become an influential global phenomenon since the start of the 21st century, heavily impacting the contemporary cultures, music, film, and television industries, and behavioural aspects of various people throughout the world.
Korean Beginner Level 4 is for students who have at least 35 hours of classroom time in the language within the last 2 years and can read all characters. Students will continue to practice reading short texts, communicating in routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics, and using a series of phrases to discuss in simple terms areas of immediate personal relevance. Students at this level will learn to handle short social exchanges, read short, simple texts, write simple, personal letters, and talk about past events.
