Introduction to Papermaking *In-Person* *NEW*
This course introduces hand papermaking, focusing on accessible methods for creating sheets of paper from recycled and various natural fibers. We will delve into the diverse possibilities of sheet pulp, including lamination, creating windows and pockets, adding textures with found materials, and bookmaking. Additionally, the course covers sizing paper to prepare it for drawing and printmaking. The instruction is designed so that you can apply what you learn in the studio at home, using readily accessible equipment and materials. Instructor: Rania Abdalla

Rania Abdalla Kadafour is a Sudanese painter and fiber artist based in Boston. She graduated in 2024 with a BFA in Fibers from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. By combining painting and fibers with an ever growing collection of memorabilia, Abdalla Kadafour captures fleeting, delicate memories in an attempt to safekeep them. She’s interested in the ways in which memories and objects collect history overtime, observing the ways in which time slowly molds the meaning behind her pieces.
