Class Supply List
BOKB - Introduction to Bookbinding- Liticia Avery
Materials (most of these materials can be found locally at Blick Art Supplies. Their bookbinding section is fairy robust. The Lineco brand also has a lot of bookmaking supplies):
Olfa knife (with sharp blades)
Ruler
Pencil
Bone Folder
Self healing cutting mat
Masking tape
Binders clips (1” or larger)
Awl - my preferred awl is the “Sewing Awl” on Blick’s website. It is a great mix of pointed & sturdy.
Binder’s Needles (straight) - make sure the head of the needle is large enough for your line thread. I use Lineco Binder's Needles (found at Blick)
Linen Thread - this can be waxed or unwaxed. I use the 30/3 Londonderry Linen Thread from colophonbookarts.com & it is unwaxed.
Lineco Bees Wax
Lineco Book board - any thickness is fine. I have also found that the board in the back of large sketch pads works well.
Decorative paper - this can be found at Blick or Paper Source. It comes in large sheets & we will be gluing it to the book board.
Book cloth
One sheet of 8.5x11 or larger piece of leather - this can be found at Michael’s.
- Paper for interior of books, I prefer to use a 60lb or 75lb sketch paper
Additional but not required materials:
Lineco Glue Brush
PVA glue
Corner Miter tool - this can be found at Etsy or colorwayarts.com & is a great finger saver. I will also show you how to make one out of scrap bookboard.
