Introduction to Woodworking: Build a Box *In-Person*

Become familiar with typical woodworking tools and the basics of joinery and construction techniques by building the foundational shape from which most furniture and structures are constructed: a box! We will discuss different types of wood and what factors go into your choice of material. We will also discuss different types of joints, and both the structural and aesthetic reasons you may want to use one joint method over another. Students should plan on spending around $50 on materials. Instructor: Dana Farmer & Carl Spagnoli

Carl Spagnoli

As a professional custom woodworker, Carl has been making things in woods of all kinds for over three decades, including furniture, doors, windows, and architectural restoration, with the occasional antique repair as well. His approach has always included a balance of traditional hand tool skills with an appropriate blend of power tool woodworking in order to honor the very long tradition of woodworking that spans at least 3000 years of humankind.
