Instructors

Laurie Rothstein

Laurie brings three decades of work in local nonprofits to her role leading Cambridge Volunteers since 2015. These agencies hosted worldwide research expeditions, repaired the environment in Armenia, taught rape prevention through theater, empowered Boston youth, and opened access to college for under-served students while training urban teachers. All of these organizations relied on volunteers. Laurie believes in the unique power of volunteerism to create change and to change all participants -- including the volunteers -- in the process.

Kavish Gandhi

Kavish works at the Neighborhood Developers since September 2022 as the manager of the Housing Assistance Team, which works to help families facing eviction or other types of housing instability stay in their homes. Prior to September 2022, Kavish was a Senior Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and before that, an AmeriCorps VISTA with the Data & Learning team at OppCo. In 2019, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a major in mathematics and minor in physics & computer science. Outside of work, Kavish is a huge Manchester City fan and enjoys hiking, playing board games, and reading poetry.
